DREAM WORK
Dream Practices From Various Traditions

Empowering dreaming, or lucid dreaming, is the process of the conscious mind entering the domain of the unconscious mind. When mastered, the dreamer is consciously aware that he or she is dreaming and yet does not wake up. With practice, the dreamer can move around and visit different places and realities at will. On occasion, the power of this active merging of the two minds can bring the dreamer into a super-illumined reality, much more vivid than normal waking reality.

Dreaming awake is the reverse process where the unconscious mind enters the domain of the awake mind state. In this state the dreamer enters dreaming totally awake and with the physical body. This requires a developed dreaming body or double.

Keeping a dreamtime journal helps create a heightened level of perception and is recommended for any dream practice. The journal can be written, typed or recorded first thing upon waking.

Keeping a journal also leads to a raised state of consciousness. The natural, safe way to astral travel is during sleep, but staying cognizant and alert while sleeping is a learned behavior. Keeping a journal teaches you to remember your dreams, which requires you to pay attention while you're dreaming so you can awaken to the world of the dreamtime dimension.
